DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Spc. James C. Kearney, III, 22, of Emerson, Iowa, died Nov. 1 in Salerno, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained in Sharan, Afghanistan, when his convoy was attacked by enemy forces using rocket propelled grenades. Kearney was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 168th Infantry, Glenwood, Iowa.
