The following are events related to the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT) that took place on this day.

2005

• Marines from 31st MEU started arriving home on Okinawa from Iraq. The air component and others from the unit returned home nearly a month later on 1-2 April. Fifty Marines were killed and 221 were wounded during the deployment.

2006

• Marines with 3d Battalion, 8th Marines, deployed yet again to Iraq from MCB Camp Lejeune. The unit returned from its last deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in August 2005.

2007

• Operation Achilles against the Taliban in Helmand Province.
