The following are events related to the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT) that took place on this day.

2003

  • Tariq Aziz surrenders and is sentenced to death. He is the 8 of Spades in the Iraq’s Most Wanted Deck of Playing Cards.

2004

  • The Marines presented diplomas to the last class to graduate as part of the Georgia Train and Equip program (GTEP). Special Forces soldiers started the program in 2002 and turned it over to the Marines later the same year. GTEP was established to help the former Soviet republic fend for itself and was used as a model for future military-building programs.

2007

  • End of Battle of Bismarck in Iraq
