Army Announces Force Structure Actions

The Department of the Army announced today six planned unit inactivations and 15 realignments over the next two years at Fort Bragg, N.C., which will result in a net decrease of 275 military authorizations.
The planned inactivations include:
- 82nd Airborne Division Special Troops Battalion
- 82nd Airborne Division Tactical Command Post
- 507th Headquarters, Headquarters Company Support Group
- 18th Subsistence Support Platoon
- 204th Quartermaster Detachment (Water Purification)
The planned realignments include:
- 51st Medical Logistics Support Company
- 257th Medical Company (Dental Services)
- 659th Ordnance Support Maintenance Company
- 737th Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Company
- 249th Quartermaster Supply Company
- 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion
- 82nd Financial Management Company
- 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade
- 3-82nd General Support Aviation Battalion
- 28th Combat Support Hospital
- 42nd Military Police Detachment
- 1-17th Combat Aviation Regiment
- 1-82nd Aviation Regiment
- 2-82nd Aviation Regiment
- 528th Medical Detachment
These combined actions are a part of integrated force structure changes that support the Army’s transformation requirements. There will be no changes to civilian authorizations. All actions are scheduled to be completed by October 2012.
