Statement by Secretary of Defense Hagel on British Helicopter Crash in Afghanistan

On behalf of the Department of Defense, I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the five British service members who lost their lives in Afghanistan on Saturday. Americans deeply appreciate the service and sacrifices of the British armed forces, which have fought side-by-side with American service members and other coalition partners over the past twelve years. Our continued sacrifices to defend our shared interests and values testify to the unbreakable bonds that endure between our two great nations. Our thoughts and prayers are with these families.
