FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOUTHWEST ASIA – Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command – Operation Inherent Resolve joins Iraqi leaders and citizens in recognizing their 97th Iraqi Armed Forces Day.

This day of celebration commemorates the activation of the Iraqi Army on Jan. 6, 1921.

“Our Iraqi brothers in arms have relentlessly fought for and achieved liberation of their country from the evil known as Daesh,” said Maj. Gen. Pat White, Commander, Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command – Operation Inherent Resolve and 1st Armored Division. “We are proud of everything they have accomplished, particularly in the past year, and we applaud the military force they have become in order to protect their homeland. It is our honor to stand by the Iraqi Army today.”
