0 views 0 May 16, 2023 Updated on June 17, 2023

Camp Al-Khalis, also known as Rock City F.O.B. (Forward Operating Base), was a military installation located in Iraq. Situated near the town of Al-Khalis in the Diyala Governorate, it was an important base during the U.S. military presence in Iraq.

Camp Al-Khalis served as a vital hub for U.S. and coalition forces operating in the Diyala province. The Diyala Governorate was a region characterized by its complex security situation, and the base played a significant role in supporting counterinsurgency operations and maintaining security.

Specific units assigned to Camp Al-Khalis varied over time due to rotations and changes in operational requirements. Various U.S. Army units, such as infantry battalions and combat support units, were stationed at the base. Additionally, units from other coalition countries also operated from Camp Al-Khalis, contributing to the multinational efforts in the region.

Facilities at Camp Al-Khalis included housing units, dining facilities, medical facilities, and operation centers. The base provided the necessary infrastructure to support the troops stationed there, ensuring their operational readiness and well-being during their deployment.
