Obituary:

U.S. Army Cpl. Kenneth “Kenny” Michael Cross, 21, of Washington state, formerly of Superior, was killed Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, while serving in Iraq.

He was born March 15, 1985, in Hayward, son of Elizabeth (Erickson) and Michael Cross.

Kenny enjoyed hunting and driving his four-wheeler.

On April 22, Kenneth Cross and Heidi Rodocker were married in Tacoma, Wash.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Esther Cross and uncles, Kenneth Cross and William Erickson.

Survivors include his wife, Heidi, Steilacoom, Wash.; parents, Michael and Elizabeth “Betty” Cross, South Range; brothers, Clifford Hoyt Jr., Superior, Jeremy Cross, South Range, Robert (Sonja) Hoyt, Superior, Justin Cross, South Range, and Mathew (Angie) Hoyt, Maple; sister, Christine Cross, South Range; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russ and Tary Rodocker, Anderson Island, Wash.; sister-in-law, Mariah Rodocker, Anderson Island, Wash.; brother-in-law, Jay Martin, Tacoma, Wash. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the noon service Saturday at Superior Middle School, with the Rev. Mark A. Holmes, pastor of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, officiating.

Burial with military honors will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers will be his six siblings, as well as Ronald Ringwald and Daryl Thomas.

Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Avenue and North 19th Street, is assisting the family with arrangements.
