DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Daniel R. Lightner, Jr., 28, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on Oct. 27, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations. Lightner was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Washington, Pa.
