DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Jorge L. Penaromero, 29, of Fallbrook, Calif., died July 16 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV while his unit was conducting a mounted patrol. Penaromero was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.
