DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of one soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. James D. McNaughton, 27, of Middle Village, N.Y., died August 2 in Baghdad, Iraq, where he was struck by sniper fire while he was in a guard tower. McNaughton was assigned to the Army Reserve’s 306th Military Police Battalion, 800th Military Police Brigade, Uniondale, N.Y.
