DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Tomas Garces, 19, of Weslaco, Texas, died September 6 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his convoy was attacked by enemy forces using an improvised explosive device. Garces was assigned to the Army National Guards 1836th Transportation Company from Fort Bliss, Texas.
The incident is under investigation.
