DOD Identifies Units for Upcoming Afghanistan Rotation

The Department of Defense announced today three major units to deploy as part of the upcoming rotation of forces operating in Afghanistan. The Spring 2012 scheduled rotation involves one corps headquarters with more than 500 personnel; one division headquarters with more than 700 personnel; and a brigade combat team with more than 3,000 personnel to include:

Headquarters units:

  • V Corps Headquarters, Wiesbaden, Germany
  • 1st Infantry Division Headquarters, Fort Riley, Kan.

Brigade Combat Team:

  • 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

The Department of Defense will continue to announce major deployments as they are approved. For information on the respective deployments contact the following: V Corps Headquarters, contact the V Corps public affairs office at 011-49-611-705-2057. 1st Infantry Division Headquarters, contact the 1st Infantry Division public affairs office at 785-240-4937, or 785-240-1796. 4th BCT, 4th Infantry Division, contact the Fort Carson public affairs office at 719-526-4143.
