The following are events related to the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT) that took place on this day.

2005

  • At a meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels, all twenty-six allied nations agree to contribute personnel to train Iraqi security forces.

2008

  • Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 115 (VMFA-115) and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 (MALS-31) departed Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort, South Carolina, for a seven-month deployment to Al Asad Air Base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. A week later, Combat Logistics Battalion 6 (CLB-6) also departed Camp Lejeune for Iraq.
