Ibrahim Ahmad Abd al-Sattar Muhammad was the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Armed Forces under Saddam Hussein’s regime. Born in 1942, he served in the military for several decades and was a key figure in the command structure of Iraq’s military.
Under Saddam Hussein, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and was appointed as the Army Chief of Staff in 1999, a position he held until the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
He was involved in many military operations and campaigns throughout his career, including the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, the Gulf War in 1991, and the 2003 Iraq War.
After the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime, he was captured by U.S. forces in May 2003. He died in custody on 28 October 2010
