Information:
SGT Jeffrey Jordan of Rome, Georgia, attended both Model High School and Armuchee High School. He enlisted into the Georgia Army National Guard in 2006, with his only assignment being the 108th.
Friends and family have a lot of great things to say about SGT Jordan. They say that his strong sense of protection and desire to provide for his family are two of the biggest reasons he decided to enlist. They also say his grandfather instilled these traits in SGT Jordan. SGT Jordan gained a wealth of knowledge from his grandfather, whether it be character traits or his ability to work on cars. On the civilian side, SGT Jordan was employed with the Floyd County Jail.
SGT Jordan met his wife, Lacey, at a party. He told his parents that she “was like a movie star”. Friends say it was love at first sight and they were right. The couple was married 3 months later. When SGT Jordan found out that they were expecting their first child, it is rumored that he cried from shear happiness.
SGT Jordan paid the ultimate price for our freedom on June 4th, 2009, when his patrol was ambushed with an IED and small arms fire. He was just 21 years old. Even more tragic, he died on his son’s first birthday. Two other Rough Riders, Major Jenrette and SFC Beale, were also killed in the attack. All three men killed in the attack had only been in Afghanistan for 3 weeks.
SGT Jordan is buried at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rome, GA. He is survived by his wife, son, parents, and family.
