The following are events related to the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT) that took place on this day.

2006

  • The eligibility rules for the awarding of the Combat Action Ribbon were revised to include those who “render satisfactory performance under enemy fire” even if no shots are fired in response. The increasing use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) by warring factions led to the change in the eligibility standards. ALMAR 025/06 announced the new criteria.
