• Army LtGen Peter Chiarelli, commander of Multinational Corps Iraq, directed further investigation into events surrounding a 19 November 2005 attack in Haditha, Iraq. Marines were under investigation for possible violations of the rules of engagement in the death of more than 20 Iraqi civilians.
