The following are events related to the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT) that took place on this day.

2006

  • End of Operation Iron Triangle in Iraq

2008

  • Members of 3d Battalion, 2d Marines, began returning home to Camp Lejeune following a seven-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Eight days later, Marines with 2d Battalion, 8th Marines, also arrived back at Camp Lejeune from Iraq after a seven-month deployment.
