2007

  • The 15th MEU returned to Camp Pendleton following an extended nine-month deployment, five of which were spent in Iraq. The Marines had moved into Iraq in November 2006 in support of counterinsurgency operations in the Al Anbar Province and were extended twice while in Iraq.
  • Start of Operation Lastay Kulang (Pickaxe Handle) in Afghanistan
  • End of Operation Achilles in Afghanistan
  • Operation Vipers Bite in Iraq
