MORE NAVAL AND AIR FORCE RESERVE CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY
September 26, 2001
Approximately 635 more members of the Naval Reserve, including four units, are being called to active duty as part of the partial mobilization authorized by President Bush.
The majority of these Naval reservists have been recalled individually based on specific skills predominantly law enforcement and security. Other skills being mobilized include medical, supply and intelligence.
This brings the total Naval reservists called to active duty to approximately 1,470. In addition, the Air Force Reserve has called 66 more to active duty. As the Coast Guard Reserve total call-ups has now risen to 2,652 members, the total National Guard and Reserve called to active duty is more than 15,600.
