The following are events related to the Global War On Terrorism (GWOT) that took place on this day.

2003

  • Iraqi resistance in Baghdad collapsed and U.S forces occupied the remainder of the capital. Marines assisted Iraqi civilians in toppling a large statue of Saddam Hussein in downtown Firdaus Square.
  • American troops occupy Baghdad.
