Release # 20181011-01

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UPDATED 6:00 PM

Southwest Asia–A joint operation involving Iraqi Special Operations Forces and Kurdish Counter Terrorism Forces with the assistance of Coalition Forces arrested members of the al-Rawi financial network, a key ISIS financial facilitation group based out of Iraq, during operations conducted in Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq, from Oct. 7-9, 2018.

The Government of Iraq and Kurdish Regional Government enabled partner forces in both cities to make a total of 10 arrests.

“The arrests deal a major blow the desperate attempts by ISIS to re-emerge in Iraq,” said Lt. Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, commander Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve. “Those who provide support to ISIS, in anyway, will face the consequences. With the invaluable help of our Kurdish partners in Iraq, we remain committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS.”

Coalition forces continue to work with the Government of Iraq and the Kurdish Regional Government to support their security forces in the fight against terrorism.
