U.S. Central Command Statement on Temporary Suspension of SDF Offensive Operations Against ISIS
CENTCOM

November 1, 2018

Release Number 20181101-02

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Attributable to Navy Capt. Bill Urban, U.S. Central Command spokesman

‎The Syrian Democratic Forces have temporarily suspended offensive operations against ISIS in response to cross border attacks by Turkey against SDF positions in Northern Syria. We anticipate this will be a temporary suspension.

The SDF have been an essential coalition partner in the defeat of ISIS in Syria.

We are equally committed to the security of Turkey and urge all parties to show restraint to de-escalate the current situation and ensure maximum pressure continues against ISIS.

Unity of focus on the defeat of ISIS is imperative.
