DoD Announces Force Adjustment
December 11, 2008

The Department of Defense announced today that the 34th Infantry Division headquarters, based in Rosemount, Minn., is scheduled to deploy in the spring of 2009 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The headquarters consists of approximately 1,000 personnel and will provide command and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities in support of security operations in the country.

This deployment will provide commanders on the ground the flexibility to maintain the appropriate level of effort based on their assessment of the security situation on the ground. It also reflects the continued commitment of the United States to the security of the Iraqi people.

DoD will continue to announce major unit deployments and adjustments as they are identified and those units are alerted. For more information on supporting units for this deployment contact Minnesota National Guard Public Affairs at (651) 282-4410.
