2003

• An undisclosed number of Marines from the I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) deployed from Camp Pendleton, California, for the Persian Gulf region as part of the Defense Department’s plan to bolster forces in the area for a possible war with Iraq. The 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) was among those deployed.
